Company History
George Steuart & Co Ltd, the oldest
mercantile establishment in Sri Lanka was founded in 1835
(170 years ago) by British Sea Captain James Steuart.
The company was initially involved in
coffee plantations and subsequently as a result of the coffee
blight the company shifted their focus on to tea plantations.
In the early 1970's after nationalisation
of estates, George Steuart & Co.Ltd diversified into other
fields of activities being operated both under its own name
and those of its subsidiary and associate companies. George
Steuart (Agencies) Ltd, is one such Company.
Our Vision
We at George Steuart (Agencies) Ltd.
with a wealth of experience and the right commitment in this
field have succeeded, in winning the trust and confidence
of the members of the medical profession.
Our greatest desire or the commitment
is to provide the benefits of both curative and preventive
aspects of modern medicine to the people of sri Lanka so that
they will have healthier lives to which the country's productivity
is directly linked.
